After being taught by some of the greatest teachers in Tibet, fleeing into India having memorized some of the most important works of Tibetan culture and Buddhist writing, through many permutations, Gelek Rimpoche landed in Michigan, USA, to help “the Dharma shine in the West.” His lifetime of teaching, debating, and composing is cherished the world over, and as the world moves forward, more needed than ever. Especially, as contemporary science begins to reiterate the efficacy of Buddhist tools and methods, in the midst of what looks like massive global change.
We ask you to help us continue in ensuring the future of Gelek Rimpoche’s life work as it has immense value for many, whether student of Buddhism or not, merely interested, agnostic, or atheist. This work is the impetus Jewel Heart continues to operate from today, and shows itself in programs for this year such as:
~ Presenting four national courses, onsite and online — all currently available online
~ Holding two retreats
~ Hosting guest teachers including Demo Rimpoche, H.H. Drikung Kyabgon, Glenn Mullin, and Guy Newland. Geshe Yeshe Thabkhe will be in residence in Ann Arbor from September 8 through September 24.
~ Completion of the digitization of Gelek Rimpoche’s audio and video archive which now totals more than 10,000 hours of teachings.
