Doboom Rimpoche on Tsongkhapa’s Praise for Dependent Arising

Jewel Heart Cleveland will be open for webinar viewing of Doboom Rimpoche’s teaching on Friday and Saturday August 16 and 17, from 10 am to 1:30 pm each day. He will teach on Tsongkhapa’s Praise of Dependent Arising, which explores the ideas behind the Buddhist understanding of wisdom. Doboom Rimpoche speaks English, and is one of the Lamas that Gelek Rimpoche recommended that Jewel Heart invite to teach.

All are invited to attend. Free will offerings are welcomed. but not required for attendance. If you plan to attend and want a copy of the root text or a transcript on the topic, please email aewarren at sbcglobal dot net.

Mind and Meditation Course to start September 19

Jewel Heart Cleveland will open on six Thursdays beginning September 19 for this course with talks by eminent Buddhist teachers. See below for more details.All are invited to attend. Schedule: Thursdays, September 19, 26, October 3, 10, 17 and 24, 7-8:30 pm.

This online course will explore the various types of meditation that are practiced in Tibetan Buddhism.

Join guest speakers Geshe Yeshe Thabkhe, Geshe Lobsang Negi, Joseph Loizzo, Venerable Thubten Chodron, H.E. Dagyab Rinpoche and Robert A. F. Thurman over the course of six weeks in this exploration of the nature of mind and meditation.

Jewel Heart Chapters will offer follow-up workshops for discussion and practice based on this course. Check with your local Jewel Heart chapters for their related programs.

Geshe Yeshe Thabkhe teaches on The Rice Seedling Sutra

Jewel Heart Cleveland will be open for webinar viewing of Geshe Thapke’s teachings on this sutra on September 16, 17, 18, and 20 from 7-8:30 pm and on Saturday, September 21 from 10-12 and 2-5.

Sunday Potluck and All-Sangha Gathering

Come share a meal and catch up with all the latest on Sunday, September 22, from noon to 2 ish. Come at 11 am if you want to watch Geshe Thapke’s Sunday talk. Since this date is the Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival, we suggest arriving well before noon to be sure of parking – and plan to visit the festival after Jewel Heart!

Beginner friendly, silent meditation sessions with light guidance as needed. You may choose to meditate on a cushion (we have several types available at Jewel Heart) or a chair. Led by Mike Sherman and other senior students.

Medium Lam Rim class is on summer break

Demo Rimpoche’s Lam Rim teachings to resume in September, so the class will follow that by 1 or 2 weeks. Watch for more details to come, If you are on the mailing list you will be notified.

Jewel Heart Cleveland instructor Bill Kirchner will be leading a guided meditation and a short talk at the Cleveland Pagan Pride Day festivities in Bedford Heights on Sunday, August 25 from 3:00 – 5:00pm.  All are welcome to attend.

Cleveland Programs June – July 2019

Demo Rinpoche on the Stages of Meditation

JH Cleveland will be open for webinar viewing of Demo Rimpoche’s summary of the stages of meditation on Saturday, July 27. The teaching will run from 10 am to 4 pm with a lunch break. All are invited to attend and watch along with others. The lunch break will give those who are interested time for informal discussions of the material.

Free will donations are welcomed, but not required for attendance. If you want a copy of the short root text before July 27, email [email protected] with your request.

Demo Rinpoche will offer a condensed summary of the Stages of Meditation, a meditation manual by the great ninth-century Indian master Kamalashila. This Saturday workshop will combine teachings and guided meditations to gain a greater understanding of the relationship between our motivations and our actions. Open to all.
