In this series, you will be listening to original unedited audio teachings by Gelek Rimpoche during the 2006 Spring Retreat held in Garrison Institute, in Garrison, NY.
The teaching on the Four Mindfulnesses was first given by Manjushri directly to Je Tsongkhapa, the great 14th century saint and scholar. It was continuously transmitted orally until the Seventh Dalai Lama expressed its essence in the form of a short poem called โSong of the Four Mindfulnessesโ. While the teaching remained slightly hidden over the centuries, in 1980 Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, guru to both His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and to Gelek Rimpoche, taught it for the first time to a western audience in New Delhi, India.
Based on the transcripts of Kyabje Ling Rinpocheโs presentation, Gelek Rimpoche expands on this rare teaching which captures the breadth of the sutra and tantra traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. During this retreat, Gelek Rimpoche elaborates on mindfulness of the foundation of guru yoga, sharing the stages of the spiritual path, developing the altruistic aspiration of enlightenment, the view of ultimate reality or emptiness, and viewing oneโs body as divine body, the tantra aspect of this teaching.
Join Gelek Rimpoche as he guides us in constructing our own perfect architecture of enlightenment.
Eight sessions in total, they range from forty-five minutes to approximately two and one half hours in length.
